Life Divined

The other night I was sitting on a floor of a Wyoming home petting a sweet pup named Fiji. I was sitting in a triangle with 2 other women and we spoke of things. Elements that we thought were crucial in our own lives whether it was personal or something we crave from others.

I was asked what my favorite thing was. I questioned it's context because instantly I thought of my bicycle. (which then made me feel rather selfish...Why isn't God my favorite thing?..This is a topic for another post) The subject matter was defined to me as anything. an element or an occurrence. Something that I yearned or felt was very important to have in life.

I took a few moments to think upon it and skimmed over what I felt I could usually pull from situation and push myself in to question. This specific "thing" is the aspect of being genuine.

The definition of Genuine via Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

Genuine: Actual, real, or true: not false of fake: sincere and honest

1.a- Actually having the reputed or apparent qualities or character.
b- Actually produced by or proceeding from the alleged source or author.
c-  Sincerely and honestly felt or experienced.

2. Free from hypocrisy or pretense.

I am finding more and more that genuine can sometimes feel like a dying natural art. Something covered up because of what we learn here or there. From one another or perceived notions of what is truly right or wrong.

Materialism: A doctrine that the only or the highest values or objectives lie in material well-being and in the furtherance of material progress.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given new birth into a giving hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into and inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief of all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire- may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed".- 1 Peter 3-7

We were created to seek truth. People are in Constant search of what is true. We were created to be genuine. So why be anything but? Through these tendencies I have found that if we are not genuine we often put on these fake coats. These things that shelter who we really are and there for hold back or weigh down who God has truly created us to be.

While my first week of living in Laramie hasn't been the coldest... Take note this photo from Tuesdays Bike ride in 59 degree sunshine.

Regardless of the conditions that surround us it is important to remember that who God is shaping us into through these conditions sometimes you just need to take the jacket off and feel the genuine season and remember that it is his will at work with in us.

Tenacious: Persistent in maintaining, adhering to, or seeking something valued or desired.

Question: What are you Tenacious about?
